Author Torica Tymes: You’re welcome. Thanks for having me.
Writing Royalty: Tell us who is Author Torica Tymes? How long have you been writing?
Author Torica Tymes: As of today, Torica is a simple, humble dude that loves to paint pictures with words. In my spare time, I love to cook and write raps. I turned 40 last Sunday and that marked 30 years with a pen in hand for myself.
Writing Royalty: Tell us the names of your books.
Author Torica Tymes: “THE SUPREMACY 1-2-3”, “GHETTO GIRL GAMES 1-2”, “RED BOTTOM BITCHES 1-2”, “IS TONIGHT THE NIGHT?”
Writing Royalty: Tell us a little about your literary journey? What lessons did you learn along the way?
Author Torica Tymes: With it only being my second full year of being in this industry, I’ve seen and learned some valuable lessons. The biggest lesson is the basis behind the advice that I now give my new authors, “OBSERVE EVERYBODY AND EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU MAKE TO MANY FRIENDS. EVERYONE IS NOT YOUR FRIEND.
Writing Royalty: Has this always been your career choice? What inspired you to become an author?
Author Torica Tymes: No it hasn't. I was inspired and motivated to write when David Weaver reached out and Blessed me with the opportunity to write for a living.
Writing Royalty: Who is the author that has most influenced your life?
Author Torica Tymes: Without a question, hands down, point blank period that would be David Weaver.
Writing Royalty: What was your most favorite book to pen thus far? Why
Author Torica Tymes: I enjoyed putting them all together but if I was forced to choose, I’d say “IS TONIGHT THE NIGHT?”…I love to script sex scenes.
Writing Royalty: What character in your book can you most relate too?
Author Torica Tymes: I definitely relate to IVORY from THE SUPREMACY…and JUSTIN JILES from IS TONIGHT THE NIGHT
Writing Royalty: Where do you get your ideas for your characters a plot?
Author Torica Tymes: REAL LIFE
Writing Royalty: Have you ever experienced writer’s block? What do you do, if that happens?
Author Torica Tymes: A form of it I suppose. My words come in sprees but my pen never has come to a complete stop.
Writing Royalty: If you were not an author, what would your career be? (If you have always aspired to be an author, what is your dream collaboration?)
Author Torica Tymes: At this point, I’d probably be working with alternative kids on the daily. Besides being a Author that was the greatest job I ever had. Way back in the mid 90’s I was a elementary p.e. teacher and basketball coach.
Writing Royalty: Now, I know that you and Cole Hart Have started your own publishing company? Tell us a little bit about that journey?
Author Torica Tymes: No doubt. WRITE HOUSE PUBLISHING is taking off to a great start. I have to Salute all the Authors on staff that have put their hearts in their werk. Writing Royalty: How do you balance the responsibilities of being an author and a publisher?
Author Torica Tymes: WITH NO OR VERY LITTLE SLEEP.
Writing Royalty: Now, urban fiction authors seem to always seem get a bad for being a bad influence on our youth. What are your thoughts?
Author Torica Tymes In whatever field you’re in there will always be a negative outlook on what you’re doing. I never been the one to judge another so I can simply say, I’ll just continue to do and give my all to do it the best.
Writing Royalty: What is your five year plan for your career and publishing company?
Author Torica Tymes: Five year plan can’t fully be disclosed but in the next two years I can see WRITE HOUSE being even bigger and better than it is today.
Writing Royalty: How many authors do you have so far? Do you have anyone new getting ready to release a book?
Author Torica Tymes Our list of Authors at WRITE HOUSE is growing rapidly. We have 13 on staff and books are always dropping. Early in March, TE’JADAN JACKSON will be releasing “THIS, THAT, AND THE 3RD BITCH”
Writing Royalty: I know that you are active in your community, what programs or charities are you involved in?
Author Torica Tymes: I certainly love helping others. Whenever I can I get out and interact with the kids. The kids are our everything.
