CEO/ Activist Lorraine Taylor Is Making Big Moves.......



Lorrain Taylor is Founder/CEO of 1000 Mothers to Prevent Violence. She founded the organization in response to the tragic murders of her 22 year old twin sons (at the same time) on February 8, 2000 in the City of Oakland.  A community organizer/activist, Lorrain serves as an Advisor to the Oakland Police Department. In 2013, her nonprofit, 1000 Mothers to Prevent Violence was featured community based organization at OPD Open House.  A prayer warrior and renown gospel recording artist, she has recorded 2 CD and has written over 25 songs. . She has received numerous awards and honors including ABC 7 TV Profiles of Excellence, The Oakland A's Bullpen Relief Award, The Bay Area Jefferson Award, Legal Community Against Violence Distinguished Leadership Award. A community crusader, Lorrain was named by Ebony Magazine as one of the 100 most influential African Americans in the USA (2013) along with Oprah Winfrey, TD Jakes, Magic Johnson and other prominent Americans. She holds a BPA, MHROD, Nonprofit Management Certificate and MSW (candidate). A mother of three sons, she has one living son, Gregory, Jr.

1000  Mothers to Prevent Violence mission is to ease the detrimental impact of violence on victim-survivors by providing ongoing compassionate support and services
